In an effort to improve access to clinical, administrative and financial data, Novant (Winston-Salem, N.C.) will implement Azyxxi, Microsoft's unified health enterprise platform, throughout the enterprise.

According to Microsoft, Azyxxi will enable physicians to have a single point of access to data, including lab results and video, while also notifying caregivers of critical information through automatic real-time updates.

Novant, a not-for-profit organization providing care for 3.4 million residents in North and South Carolina, will initially focus on the intensive care units and emergency departments, and then expand throughout its eight acute care hospitals and an 800-physician medical group, says the Redmond, Wash.-based software company.
