Mission Regional Medical Center, a non-profit, 297-bed medical center in Mission, Texas, has selected San Diego-based IntelliDOT Corporation, a provider of wireless, handheld bar code point-of-care solutions to help the hospital eliminate phlebotomy specimen collection errors at the bedside, the company says.

According to the company, with the IntelliDOT System, phlebotomists will receive STAT! alerts on the wireless IntelliDOT handheld device while still in the nursing unit, eliminating the need for repeated trips to the laboratory to pick up printed labels.

Mission Regional, which provides general hospital services to the people of the Rio Grande Valley, is scheduled to begin installing IntelliDOT phlebotomy specimen collection in the first quarter of 2009.
