Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC in Pittsburgh has been recognized by Orem, Utah-based KLAS as one of the nation’s top five children’s hospitals in the use of EMRs, it says.
According to the hospital, KLAS’ determination was based upon a number of factors, including the percentage of possible physicians doing CPOE, the percentage of possible orders submitted via CPOE (inpatient and ambulatory), and the percentage of physicians entering notes and documenting using an electronic health record (inpatient and ambulatory).
The new Children’s Hospital, which opened in May, is a digital hospital with a fully integrated EMR. The organization says it began its implementation of an electronic health record in 2001 when it became one of the first hospitals in the nation to adopt CPOE.
Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC provides services including ambulatory care, transplantation and cardiac care and treats more than 500,000 children and adolescents.
