The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, (Clearwater, Fla.) a not-for-profit agency offering comprehensive hospice and palliative care to Pinellas County, Fla., will deploy Reston, Va.-based SquareLoop Inc.’s text messaging system to enable secure transmission of data over public wireless networks.

Because its staff is constantly in the field visiting patients, says the company, the hospice needed a secure way for staff to communicate in real-time about patients' conditions.

The company says the text messaging system complies with HIPAA regulations governing encryption of patients' electronic records and provides an application for secure mobile-originated text messages.
