Molly Joel Coye, M.D., M.P.H., has been named president and CEO of the San Francisco-based CalRHIO, the California statewide information exchange. Coye, who was principal founder of CalRHIO and has served as the chair of the Board of Directors since 2007, will assume the position immediately.
Coye succeeds Don Holmquest, M.D., who moved into a senior advisory role in late 2008.
Coye was founder and CEO of the Health Technology Center (HealthTech), a San Francisco-based non-profit research organization that has joined with the Public Health Institute in Oakland. Previously, she served as Commissioner of Health for the State of New Jersey and Director of the California Department of Health Services. As a member of the Institute of Medicine, Coye co-authored the reports To Err is Human and Crossing the Quality Chasm, chaired the Committee on Access to Insurance for Children, and co-chaired the Committee on Patient Safety Data Standards.
Coye earned her M.D. and M.P.H. degrees from Johns Hopkins University and is board certified by the American College of Preventive Medicine.
