Plano, Texas-based Perot Systems Corp. has appointed John Hummel as the new chief technology officer for its global healthcare unit.

Hummel brings more than 30 years of information systems and healthcare management experience to Perot Systems. Previously, he served as CIO of the California Prison Healthcare Receivership of Sacramento, Calif., one of the largest prison systems in the world. While serving in that role, Hummel was responsible for building a state-of-the-art clinical information system to manage inmates’ medical, dental and mental healthcare data. Prior to that, Hummel was CIO of Sacramento, Calif.’s Sutter Health, one of the largest non-profit integrated healthcare systems in the United States.
