Columbus, Ohio-based OhioHealth, in partnership with RxNT, has introduced an e-Prescribing system that allows its physicians to securely submit electronic prescriptions wirelessly to retail and mail order pharmacies nationwide, while also receiving communication back from the pharmacies.

According to Annapolis, Md.-based RxNT, benefits of its system include; Pocket PC and Palm OS functionality for mobile prescribers, a drug database, patient specific formularies and prescription claims medication history, drug and allergy interactions, access to more than 65,000 retail and mail order pharmacies nationwide and interfaces to select practice management systems. Additionally, the RxNT system allows practitioners to receive electronic refill-requests from local pharmacies, according to the organization.

The RxNT system will connect to the Pharmacy Health Information Exchange, operated by Alexandria, Va.-based SureScripts.
