The Mississippi Division of Medicaid (Jackson, Miss.) is contracting with Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Shared Health, Inc. to implement and operate an EHR system and e-prescribing solution for the 600,000 Mississippi Medicaid beneficiaries.

Shared Health says it will connect Medicaid beneficiaries’ data across the network of providers using its products and services. Through the use of secure health IT solutions at the point of care, Shared Health aims to help reduce costs and promote better patient care, it says.

As part of a four-year contract, Shared Health will also facilitate access to hospital discharge information, and will provide clinical outreach services in support of EHR adoption by Medicaid physicians statewide.
