St. Lucas Andreas Hospital in Amsterdam, The Netherlands will start monitoring more than a hundred chronic heart failure patients at home using the Philips Motiva system, says Netherlands-based Royal Phillips Electronics.
According to St. Lucas Andreas Hospital it is the first hospital in The Netherlands to introduce a remote monitoring system for cardiac patients into its daily operations. Using a broadband connection, the Philips Motiva system sends the weight and blood pressure data to the hospital from a specially adapted home-based weighing scale and blood pressure meter. If the readings are too high, Philips says the system gives a warning signal so doctors can intervene immediately.
