Picis EDIS Links with Drug Database

First DataBank’s (San Francisco) National Drug Data File (NDDF) is now being supported as a native medication database within the Wakefield, Mass.-based Picis ED PulseCheck emergency department information system.

According to Picis, embedding First DataBank drug databases within ED PulseCheck can provide ED clinicians with the ability to exchange patient medication and allergy information with other hospital information systems that rely on the database for clinical decision support. Picis says it plans to support First DataBank implementations for new and existing clients, providing medication and allergy checking within ED PulseCheck, as well as the ability to check for conflicts with common food and non-medication items.

First DataBank, a subsidiary of Hearst Corporation, provides drug databases for healthcare information systems.
