Saint Peter’s University Hospital, a 478-bed teaching facility based in New Brunswick, N.J., is deploying Horizon Clinicals software from McKesson Corp. (Alpharetta, Ga.) as part of an effort to connect physicians across multiple care settings.
According to the company, Saint Peter’s will roll out CPOE; patient records; bar-coded medication administration; electronic documentation; an enterprise patient care visibility solution; and a perinatal care solution that will integrate fetal strip readings with a mother’s EHR.
The hospital’s 130 employed physicians will be connected in outpatient settings with a Web-based, ambulatory EHR solution that automates the clinical functions of a physician practice, while non-employed physicians will utilize the RelayHealth connectivity platform and patient-centric network to enable coordination of care, it says.
Saint Peter’s is state-designated, acute care hospital offering a range of specialized pediatric services, including a maternity program that delivers approximately 6,100 newborns annually. It is sponsored by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Metuchen and is an academic affiliate of Drexel University College of Medicine.
