Fresno, Calif.-based Community Regional has implemented UK-headquartered GE Healthcare’s Centricity Perinatal in its 65-bed level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the company says.
The solution, GE says, uses ADT, Laboratory and COLD Feed interfaces, for a seamless integration with the hospital HIS system to provide clinicians babies’ physiological data. Community Regional is part of a two-hospital wide area network, and according to the company, has used the product in its Labor and Delivery and Post Partum units since 1998 to assist with the center’s deliveries, which average upwards of 10,000 per year. By expanding use of its clinical information system into the NICU, the company says Community Regional’s clinicians will be able to document electronically, allowing information to flow into the patient’s EMR, improving workflow, reducing errors and increasing patient safety. Located on a 58-acre campus in downtown Fresno, Community Regional is an academic-affiliated medical center with more than 600 beds. Its 56,000-square-foot emergency department is home to burn and Level 1 trauma centers.
