BridgeFront (Vancouver, Wash.) and OCHIN (Portland, Ore.) announced their new partnership to co-develop a library of 50-plus online courses that address the challenges of complying with meaningful use standards. Courses will be delivered via BridgeFront's Online Education Center to up to 3,000 members of O-HITEC.

As Oregon's Health Information Technology Extension Center (O-HITEC) is responsible for helping more than 3,000 Oregon primary care providers install certified Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and help them comply with the meaningful use standards - to improve the quality and reduce the cost of patient services.

The new library of courses will cover key topics like e-prescribing, evidenced-based best practice and decision support, and a variety of practice management courses essential for healthcare providers and their staff members to meet the criteria for Meaningful Use, a major component of healthcare reform. Compliance with these standards allows individual providers to acquire up to $44,000 in Medicare or up to $64,000 in Medicaid incentive payments from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
