Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC, Boston) has deployed Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Palo Alto Networks’ PA-4000 Series next-generation firewalls to improve visibility and control of applications and enhance threat protection.

The 621-bed medical center is leveraging Palo Alto’s threat prevention capabilities to replace its existing URL filtering point-solutions, according to the company. BIDMC is also looking to simplify its security infrastructure, it says.

Beth Israel Deaconess is a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School that includes a state-of-the-art trauma center. It shares clinical and research programs with institutions such as the Dana- Farber/Harvard Cancer Center, the Joslin Diabetes Center and Children’s Hospital.
