Cleveland-based University Hospitals (UH), one of the nation’s largest community-based health systems, signed with athenahealth (Watertown, Mass.) to provide on-demand revenue cycle management services to UH’s Medical Practices (UHMP) and University Hospitals Management Services Organization (UHMSO) practices.

The practices consist of nearly 450 multi-specialty employed and contracted medical providers, as well as five Urgent Care Centers and five Hospitalist Programs.

UH is implementing Atlanta-based Eclipsys as its integrated, single clinical medical record solution. According to the company, UHMP/UHMSO will now have the ability to leverage athenahealth’s centrally-hosted practice management platform and the Eclipsys clinical solution at UH to share patient data with other facilities, while maintaining privacy around their individual practices’ and services’ financial information.

With 150 locations throughout Northeast Ohio, University Hospitals serves the needs of patients through an integrated network of hospitals, outpatient centers and primary care physicians. At the core of its health system is University Hospitals Case Medical Center, the primary affiliate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
