Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation (TMSC), has announced that Satoshi Tsunakawa will be appointed president and CEO of the company. Tsunakawa, who most recently served as the senior vice president, succeeds Kenichi Komatsu, Ph. D., who will become an advisor to the Board of TMSC and the Toshiba Corporation. The announcement was made at the company's annual shareholder meeting.

Tsunakawa, who joined Toshiba Corporation in 1979, has extensive experience in global sales, business planning and strategic planning. He has held positions at Toshiba’s medical subsidiaries in Europe and the U.S., and was president of Toshiba America Medical Systems from 2004 to 2008. For the last year, Tsunakawa has led the global sales, strategic planning and corporate communications functions.

Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation was established in October 2003, when the medical systems operations of Toshiba Corporation became an independent group company specializing in medical diagnostic imaging systems. The company is headquartered in Otawara Tochigi, Japan.
