Western Maryland Health System (WMHS, Cumberland, Md.) is planning to deploy Impax cardiovascular image and information management solution from Mortsel, Belgium-headquartered Agfa HealthCare at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Expected to open its doors later this year, the facility will use Agfa’s cardiovascular solution for all cardiology studies, including cardiac catheterization imaging and echocardiography imaging and reporting, the company says.
The agreement also includes Agfa’s HeartStation ECG management system, as well as the integration of Impax CV with the new hospital’s radiology PACS, which the company says will allow both cardiology and radiology images to be viewed from any secure PC. Agfa HealthCare will also implement inbound and outbound reporting; an interface to a physician portal; and a data mining tool for developing management and clinical reports.
The new hospital will be a single 275-bed facility combining the services of WMHS’s two primary hospitals, Braddock Hospital and Memorial Hospital and Medical Center of Cumberland. WMHS offers medical, surgical, pediatric, and obstetrical services, and has more than 200 physicians practicing in the community.
