The Netherlands-based Philips Healthcare has joined forces with Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Skytron to deliver hybrid operating rooms. The solution, Philips says, will combine its cardiovascular X-ray systems with Skytron’s surgery room equipment to enable clinicians to perform minimally invasive cardiovascular surgical procedures.

By working together, Philips says the two will deliver operating rooms that optimize workflow whilst reducing the length of the planning and installation process.

Philips will provide interventional X-ray equipment and specialized imaging tables, and Skytron will deliver advanced operating room communications control integration, surgical lighting and boom technologies specifically designed to support hybrid surgical suites. As a result, Philips says, providers will be able to carry out image-guided interventional radiology procedures including cardiovascular, vascular and cardiac surgery, neurosurgery and orthopedics.

According to Philips the two companies will work together across North and South America.
