Heartland Health is implementing a system from Boston-based PatientFlow Technology, Inc. at its flagship hospital, Heartland Regional Medical Center (St. Joseph, Mo.).

The PatientFlow system will utilize operations management techniques and queuing theory to reduce wait times and variability in the emergency department, which will improve patient safety and quality throughout the hospital, according to the company.

In addition to the 400-bed Heartland Regional Medical Center, Heartland Health’s integrated delivery system also includes physicians practices, a foundation and a health plan.
