Looking to improve clinical care in its emergency department, which receives more than 36,000 annual visits, acute care Princeton HealthCare System hospital unit, University Medical Center at Princeton (UMCP), has signed on with Wellsoft Corp. of Somerset, N.J. for its emergency department information system.

By implementing Wellsoft's emergency department information system, UMCP hopes to improve patient care and decrease the length of patient stay in the emergency department. The plan is to streamline physician and nursing documentation, and increase communication between caregivers.

Implementation of a suite of features including patient tracking, clinical documentation, order entry and results reporting is under way.
