Calif. Hospital Rolls out Cardio IS

St. Rose Hospital, a 163-bed acute care hospital located in Hayward, Calif., has implemented Alpharetta, Ga.-based McKesson Corporation’s Horizon Cardiology CVIS to manage diagnostic digital images.

Horizon Cardiology is used to facilitate image storage and reporting in the cardiac cath lab and echocardiography department, as well as for Web-based reporting and EKG management. According to McKesson, the CVIS interfaces with St. Rose’s existing HIS to provide automated order and report sharing between the two systems. Since implementing the solution, the hospital has seen improvements in report turnaround times, it touts.

St. Rose Hospital is a designated Cardiac Receiving Center for Alameda County, providing emergency lifesaving angioplasties for the immediate treatment of heart attacks. The hospital’s average “door-to-balloon” time is 67 minutes. It has performed more than 2,400 procedures since the opening of its new cardiovascular lab.
