Meta Pharmacy Systems Offering eMAR

Meta Pharmacy Systems of Floral Park, N.Y., has rolled out MetaCare Enterprise eMAR point-of-care medication administration system.

The new Meta Pharmacy product is a Web-based system designed to monitor and reduce medication errors through the use of bar code technology, the company says.

Upon scanning the patient's wristband barcode, MetaCare eMAR identifies and verifies the patient, searches for the medications that have been ordered for that patient and cross-checks for possible drug allergies and interactions, the company claims. Subsequent scanning of the actual medication packaging verifies the correct drug, dose, route of administration and schedule.
