San Jose, Calif.-based Vocera Inc.’s smartphone, the newest addition to the Vocera system of wireless, instant communication products, is now available.

According to the company, the new device supports all of the Vocera system’s voice-driven features, works as a wireless telephone, and offers application support.

As an extension of the Vocera platform, the Vocera smartphone offers the same one-touch, voice user interface of the Vocera communications badge. Doctors and other clinical staff can access applications such as clinical alarm/alert systems, asset tracking and medical reference software. The system will also provide access to corporate e-mail, the company touts.
