St. Joseph, Mich.-based Lakeland Regional Health System (LRHS) has inked a multi-year deal with Novo Innovations (Alpharetta, Ga.) to provide a healthcare exchange platform to its affiliated practices. The Novo Grid is designed to enable LRHS to electronically deliver data — including lab and EKG results, radiology reports, transcriptions, admission and discharge summaries, and surgical notes — to affiliated practices’ ambulatory EMR systems. According to Novo, LRHS plans to expand its use of the platform to accommodate the two-way exchange of data, which will enable practices to place lab orders and schedule procedures with LRHS, among other services.

Lakeland is a not-for-profit, community-owned system serving the southwest Michigan region of Berrien, Cass and VanBuren counties. In addition to the three hospitals, the system includes walk-in clinics, long-term care, home care, rehabilitation and other services.
