New Orleans-based Ochsner Health System is deploying the Fusion interoperability platform from Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Carefx Corporation to provide its 15,000 users with a unified view of patient data from multiple clinical databases.

The solution will enable Ochsner physicians to access real-time patient information through a portal from any location, according to the company. It will also facilitate the integration of Ochsner’s internally developed EMR with systems from other companies, it touts.

With the implementation, Ochsner looks to advance toward its goal of creating an IT infrastructure compatible with the Louisiana Rural Health Information Exchange, which links 24 northern Louisiana community hospitals with Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, says the company.

Ochsner Health System is a non-profit, academic system that includes seven hospitals and more than 35 health centers located throughout Southeast Louisiana.
