Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital (PIH), a 444-bed acute care facility located in Whittier, Calif., has deployed Atlanta-based Eclipsys’ Sunrise Pharmacy medication solution.

In rolling out a centralized pharmacy information system, PIH also initiated a system-wide electronic medication record to support enhanced communication, speed and accuracy in dispensing patient medications, according to the company. The implementation marks a critical step as PHI works toward a closed loop medication process and builds upon the hospital’s successful adoption of Eclipsys’ CPOE, it says.

Eclipsys claims Presbyterian Intercommunity has achieved CPOE adoption rates of approximately 99 percent among physicians, and has reduced medication delivery time by 60 percent.
