The San Francisco Department of Public Health announced it has chosen eClinicalWorks (Westborough, Mass.) unified electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management (PM) system for the full suite of Ambulatory Care Electronic Medical Records products. The selection of eClinicalWorks is the result of an extensive Request for Proposal (RFP) process which compared products offered by a wide variety of clinical information systems vendors.

The eClinicalWorks implementation will occur in Community and Hospital-based Primary Care and Specialty Clinics over the next two years, and will transition the provision of medical care to a platform consistent with the compliance standards for ARRA "Meaningful Use" specifications. In addition to systems software and Application Services provider (ASP) services, the system will be implemented with an on-site eClinicalWorks technical team which will work closely with Departmental Information technology staff to insure a successful installation and effective knowledge transfer for on-going support in the future.eClinicaWorks has a proven track record of working with the city department of health and being able to deploy EMRs with interoperability and clinical decision support system.
