Arrangements have been finalized for John Glaser, CIO of Partners Healthcare in Boston, to join his colleague David Blumenthal, M.D., the newly appointed National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, in Washington D.C., where the duo will direct initial Stimulus Bill disbursements and formulate the definition of “meaningful use.”

“The paperwork has been completed,” Glaser wrote HCI Editor-in-Chief Anthony Guerra. “Beginning the week of 5/4, I will spend four days a week for six months working with ONC and HHS on the specifics of the HITECH portions of the stimulus bill.”

After constructing a draft of “meaningful use,” the definition will be posted on the HHS site for comment, possibly resulting in revision.

ONC, Glaser adds, will post an announcement about his role next week.
