According to a recent research report published by MGMA (Englewood, Colo.), medical practice leaders nationwide have voiced frustrations with Medicare’s Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI).

MGMA’s report indicates that physicians are frustrated with the lack of data available for improving patient outcomes, the administrative burden of participation, the difficulty in accessing and downloading the 2007 feedback reports, and the delay from the time data is submitted to the time reports are available, it states.

Of the practices able to obtain their PQRI reports, 69.8 percent reported “low” or “no” satisfaction with the document’s guidance in improving patient care outcomes, says MGMA. In addition, the company touts that an overwhelming percentage (92.9 percent) of respondents reported difficulty accessing their reports, with respondent practices spending an average of five hours downloading their final 2007 PQRI feedback reports from the CMS Web site.
