Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic Health Solutions has joined forces with Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft Corp. Health Solutions Group to develop tools to help people manage their health.

The organizations hope to leverage IT to bridge the gaps in the healthcare system, to facilitate closer patient-to-physician connections, and to allow patients and consumers to better manage their health and wellness.

Mayo and Microsoft hope to announce further details of the project before the end of 2008.
