Smart infusion pumps are designed to prevent against bedside against medication errors by ensuring the right medication and dose go to the right patient every time, according to a recent KLAS (Orem, Utah) report.
According to the report, functionality — particularly ease of use of the pump — was the number one reason why a particular vendor’s offering was selected in a purchase decision. In addition, only 62 percent of respondents reported that their vendor’s product provides them with the needed functionality, says the company.
The five vendors included in this research are B. Braun, Baxter, Cardinal Health, Hospira, Sigma, and Smiths.
