In an effort to increase efficiency of its outpatient records and automate data abstraction for streamlined billing and coding, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (Newark, N.J.), part of the Saint Barnabas Health Care System, has gone live with EMscribe computer assisted coding (CAC) solution from Eatontown, N.J.-based Artificial Medical Intelligence (AMI). Soon, the company says, the hospital will go also go live with EMscribe for its inpatient systems. In fact, it says, the solution is already connected to and receiving records from the hospital’s inpatient systems.
According to the company, EMscribe CAC scans the entire patient record for appropriate ICD9-CM diagnostic and procedure codes and CPT codes using innovative language processing technology. Its patent-pending algorithmic software electronically analyzes entire medical charts to pre-code with both CPT procedure and ICD9 diagnostic nomenclatures.
Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is a 673-bed regional care, non-profit teaching hospital that provides care for the northern New Jersey metropolitan area.
