Hays Medical Center, a private, not-for-profit hospital in Hays, Kan., is using Redwood Shores, Calif.-based Oracle BPEL Process Manager to connect disparate information systems within its IT infrastructure and create a service-oriented architecture (SOA).
Hays Medical worked with Oracle Consulting to complete a proof-of-concept that integrates Hays’ existing infrastructure, which includes a Meditech Patient Care System module and the GE Vitals 8000 hardware device. The new architecture consists of Oracle’s B2B Engine, Healthcare Adapter, and BPEL Process Manager.
Oracle says the hospital also plans to expand the proof-of-concept to incorporate additional application-to-application interfaces and to simplify its business-to-business interactions with trading partners using the HL7 standard. Further, Oracle says Hays Medical plans to incorporate additional components of Oracle Fusion Middleware to create real-time dashboards.
