Island Hospital in Anacortes, Wash. has implemented Austin, Texas-based Motion Computing’s C5 Mobile Clinical Assistant to extend the functionality of the organization’s Meditech (Westwood, Mass.) Magic Health Care Information System, according to Mobile.

With the deployment, the hospital looks to improve its nursing documentation process while realizing cost savings and utilizing a more hygienic solution that the traditional workstations on wheels, says the company. C5s are installed in the ED, on surgical floors and in the ICU for nursing documentation, bar-coded medication scanning, order entry and other functionalities.

Island Hospital offers a range of services in an acute-care facility. The hospital also manages family care clinics in Anacortes and on Lopez Island, all under the auspices of Skagit County Public Hospital District No. 2, which serves western Skagit County, north Whidbey Island and the San Juan Islands.
