San Francisco-based McKesson rolled out its redesigned AcuDose-Rx automated medication cabinets, which operate on the Connect-Rx software platform, version 6.8.

Designed to minimize medication dispensing time and increase inventory management, the company says its product offers significant financial savings. According to McKesson, AcuDose-Rx is the only unit-based cabinet on the market to integrate with point-of-care administration tools and pharmacy automation equipment. Product features include scanning of manufacturer bar codes to verify medications for storage and dispense, and the ability to search all medicine cabinets across a hospital. It says the software allows hospitals to dispense medication kits, issue under- and over-dose warnings and enforce organizational policies for drug substitution.
