Healthcare professionals who utilized digital radiography (DR) report increased patient throughput resulting in improved ROI, according a study by Orem, Utah-based KLAS.

The report, entitled 2008 Digital Radiography, also states that most users are satisfied with DR vendors, that the equipment generally performs as advertised, and that support has been satisfactory, according to KLAS.

The findings also identify areas in which the technology can improve. Imaging procedures performed in the ED require flexibility that the vast majority of DR solutions currently lack, making a back-up system advisable, says the report.

Vendors included in the report are Carestream (Kodak), Fujifilm, GE, IDC, Philips, Quantum Medical Imaging, Shimadzu, Siemens, and Toshiba.
