An audio news conference will be held highlighting results from a study conducted by researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health and Massachusetts General Hospital that examines use of EHRs in hospitals and discusses how to make the most of the stimulus package.

The study, which reflects 2008 information collected from nearly 5,000 hospitals, will show the extent to which hospitals are employing full or basic EHRs, what barriers are preventing broader adoption, and what specific steps the federal government can take to spur hospitals to go digital. This study follows a similar report in 2008 by the same research team, which found that only about 17 percent of physicians were adopting EHRs.

Featured speakers include David Blumenthal, M.D., Director, Institute for Health Policy, Massachusetts General Hospital; Ashish Jha, M.D., Associate Professor, Harvard School of Public Health; Catherine Desroches, Ph.D., Assistant in Health Policy, Institute for Health Policy, Massachusetts General Hospital; and John Glaser, Ph.D., Vice President and CIO, Partners HealthCare System.

To reserve a space for the teleconference, please contact Staci Gorden at [email protected], or call 301-652-1558, ext. 5796.
