ABBYY (Fremont, Calif.), a provider of recognition, data capture and linguistic technologies, has released version 9.0 of the ABBYY FineReader document and PDF conversion software.
ABBYY contends its solution provides document conversion capabilities that allow users to transform document images and PDF files into editable and searchable electronic files. An alternative to manually retyping documents, FineReader can convert almost any type of document, including tables and spreadsheets, magazine articles, contracts, and even faxes, says the company.
According to ABBYY, the solution is based on a recognition platform with adaptive document recognition technology (ADRT), and is the first optical character recognition (OCR) product to automatically deliver editable files in native document formatting.
