Data Distributing (Santa Cruz , Calif. ) says it has an intelligent, digital chart copy solution.

According to the company, its Digital Secure Copy (DISCO) is an automated solution designed to produce digital patient records for the medical records department, whether they are EMR-based, paper-based, or a hybrid of both. DISCO performs HL7 queries and retrieves patient information from the HIS or EMR, creating digital copies of either full charts or specific encounters, and burns the patient data to a disc, the company touts.

According to Data Distributing, the product allows hospitals to comply with Senate Bill 472 recently passed in the Illinois legislature for a paperless chart copy mandate. In addition, the company says it provides benefits such as expedited ROI fulfillment and reduction in departmental overhead, to the records department.
