Satisfaction with hospital staff scheduling software varies widely among finance, IT and nursing departments, sometimes giving way to warring departments, according to a new report from Orem, Utah-based KLAS.

According to KLAS it was feedback from nurses that proved to be the biggest differentiator in choosing a product. Among the highest-rated vendors in the report were RES-Q (Calabasas, Calif.), AtStaff (Durham, N.C.) and McKesson (San Francisco).

In its latest study, Staff Scheduling: Nurses Rock the Boat, KLAS found significant gaps between the vendor solutions favored by nurses and other stakeholders. While nurses gave Kronos Workforce Scheduler (Kronos, Chelmsford, Mass.) their lowest rating, finance and HR rated it a full 13 points higher on a 100-point scale.

Though staff scheduling technology has only penetrated 40 percent of the market, KLAS says the pressure to adopt is mounting.
