Burlington, Mass.-based Lahey Clinic is implementing an EMR system from Eclipsys Corp (Atlanta). The company says Lahey is planning to use its solutions to establish an interoperable platform for its two acute care medical centers, and to leverage a prior investment in an outpatient ambulatory EMR.
According to Eclipsys, the project entails establishing an EMR with clinical decision support and will include Sunrise Acute Care, Sunrise Pharmacy and Knowledge-Based Charting solutions, which will reside on the Eclipsys XA extended open architecture. Lahey Clinic providers will be able to share information securely among disparate systems both inside and outside of the organization, says the company. In combination, the new clinical solutions will provide Lahey clinicians with fully integrated clinical workflows to help improve clinical outcomes and turnaround times, it touts.
Lahey Clinic is a physician-led, nonprofit group practice, with more than 430 physicians and 4,400 nurses, therapists, and other support staff. A teaching hospital of Tufts University School of Medicine, the Clinic maintains residency and fellowship programs for more than 130 new physicians in multiple subspecialties, and has research programs that encompass more than 200 clinical trial protocols.
