The Hughston Clinic P.C., of Columbus, Ga., has selected athenahealth inc.'s on-demand EMR service, athenaClinicals, to deploy at its orthopedic surgery groups across nine locations throughout Georgia and Alabama.

The athenaClinicals system is integrated with the physician billing and practice management service, athenaCollector, says the Watertown, Mass.-based company. According to athenahealth, athenaClinicals also integrates with its Web-based billing and practice management system for patient registration, scheduling, eligibility checking, claims processing, and reporting.

In addition to traditional EMR features, athenahealth says its product converts analog information from faxes, phone calls and patient encounters into updated clinical profiles and workflows, aimed at eliminating paper and improving execution of clinical processes such as labs, prescriptions, referrals and health maintenance.
