Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH, Boston) has selected the Neurostar Virtual Radiology Network (VRN, Atlanta) to provide Internet-based data

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH, Boston) has selected the Neurostar Virtual Radiology Network (VRN, Atlanta) to provide Internet-based data communications for its Tele3D Advantage image processing service.

Clients of the MGH 3D service will use the VRN to send images to MGH, says Neurostar. Once processed by MGH professionals, the reconstructed images will be returned to clients using VRN technology and standard Internet infrastructure, contends the company.

According to Neurostar, 3D image processing requires experienced staff, clinical 3D protocols, scan acquisition protocols, standardized billing policies and costly IT infrastructure. Therefore, MGH launched the Tele3D Advantage service to provide 3D reconstruction services to radiology practices that do not perform these in-house, says the company.
