Dallas-based Baylor Health Care System has appointed Joseph H. Schneider, M.D., as chief medical information officer (CMIO) and medical director of clinical information.

Schneider comes to Baylor from Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, where he had served as CMIO since 2004.

Schneider is chair-elect of the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on Clinical Information Technology and is a member of the board of directors for the Texas Pediatric Society. He is also the chairman of the Texas Medical Association Committee on Health Information Technology and was one of the original authors of the Continuity of Care Record Standard.
