San Mateo, Calif.-based Epocrates Inc., a provider of point-of-care reference solutions, announced it is working with Detroit, Mich.-based Covisint, a Compuware Company, to help medical professionals successfully receive reimbursements from the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) program. The collaboration will help the nearly 300,000 U.S. physicians in the Epocrates network benefit from the 2010 pay-for-reporting program via Covisint's DocSite solution.
Epocrates products and services are designed to support physicians' delivery of high-quality patient care. With the complementary goal of improving care and cutting costs, CMS has focused this year's PQRI program on a number of chronic conditions, including kidney disease, back pain and diabetes mellitus. Through Covisint's streamlined, CMS-certified DocSite PQRI registry, eligible professionals can efficiently report on quality measures for those and other conditions. Epocrates is raising awareness of Covisint's convenient DocSite system that also facilitates qualifying physicians' receipt of the available financial incentive.
Covisint DocSite has assisted healthcare professionals submit PQRI data since 2007 and assisted more than 4,500 providers with submitting data to CMS for the 2009 PQRI reporting year. With more than 45 percent of U.S. physicians using its products and services, Epocrates is in a position to help more physicians learn about the Covisint DocSite registry and complete the documentation process with ease.
