Ten EHR products for office-based physicians have met the new criteria for certification from the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT, Chicago).

According to the organization, the new standards dictate that ambulatory EHRs are capable of advanced electronic prescribing functions so physicians can qualify for bonuses under Medicare’s new incentive program, and that EHRs are able to send and receive an electronic patient summary, which are confirmed using Laika interoperability testing tool.

The eight new fully CCHIT Certified 08 ambulatory EHR products include:

  • Community Computer Service Inc’s, MEDENT, version 18, additionally certified for Child Health
  • eClinicalWorks’ eClinicalWorks, version 8, additionally certified for Child Health
  • Epic Systems Corporation’s EpicCare Ambulatory EMR, version Spring 2008, additionally certified for Child Health
  • Greenway Medical Technologies Inc’s PrimeSuite, version 2008, additionally certified for Child Health and Cardiovascular Medicine
  • McKesson Provider Technologies’ Practice Partner, version 9.3, additionally certified for Child Health
  • MedLink International Inc’s MedLink TotalOffice, version 3.1
  • MedPlexus Inc’s MedPlexus EHR, version 9.2, additionally certified for Child Health
  • NextGen Healthcare Information Systems Inc’s NextGen EMR, version 5.5.27, additionally certified for Child Health and Cardiovascular Medicine

In addition, two products were pre-market, conditionally certified and will be eligible for full certification once their operational use at a physician office site has been verified. They are Pulse Systems, Pulse Patient Relationship Management, version 4.1 and VIP Medicine LLC, SmartClinic, version 16.
