Western Washington Rural Health Care Collaborative (WWRHCC), a non-profit rural health network based in Seattle, has deployed a web-based health information exchange (HIE) using standards-based technology from
Orion Health (Santa Monica, Calif.).
The exchange will facilitate data sharing between three critical access hospitals and the Level I Trauma Center in Washington, according to the company. Orion says it will provide an infrastructure solution to enable messaging, clinical data repository, master patient index, and telepharmacy capabilities.
The HIE is funded through a grant awarded by the Health Resources and Services Administration and the Washington State Department of Health, Office of Community and Rural Health.
WWRHCC is comprised of nine federally designated rural Critical Access Hospitals serving all or portions of nine Western Washington counties, with a combined network area population of over 154,000.
