The Medical Center of Arlington (MCA, Arlington, Texas) has implemented Alpharetta, Ga.-based McKesson’s Anesthesia-Rx, an automated cart designed to improve drug reconciliation.

By deploying the cart, which features a touchscreen-driven medication dispensing process, MCA hopes to streamline workflow and improve medication management in the surgical areas, says the company. According to McKesson, the solution also includes Virtual Pocket technology providing an onscreen roadmap that shows the location of each medication in a drawer.

An acute care hospital, MCA was the first certified Chest Pain Center and the first JCAHO-designated Primary Stroke Center in Tarrant County. It is staffed by 1,100 nurses, technicians, advocates and volunteers and more than 500 physicians.
