Clinical decision support tools such as CPOE may significantly alter the way care is practiced in the future, according to findings from a Datamonitor (London) report, which predicts that clinical intelligence solutions will be the next big trend in decision support, followed by patient-centric and diagnosis-related solutions.

The report, entitled “Clinical Decision Support in Healthcare: One Step Closer to the Omniscient Clinician,” also speculates that medical culture will be the major obstacle to overcome in the adoption of clinical decision support tools.
