Chantilly, Va.-based Apptis, Inc., a provider of IT and communications services to the federal marketplace, has completed and deployed Block 2 of the Electronic System for the Early Notification of Community-based Epidemics (ESSENCE) to end users worldwide.

Working with the Defense Health Services Systems Program Office in support of the Military Health System, Apptis has provided the services and support to enhance ESSENCE’s capabilities for expanded medical surveillance using new data sets (laboratory orders and radiology orders); the flexibility to establish user-defined surveillance criteria; more advanced querying and reporting capabilities for the end users; increased security and security-related features; plus improvements on system administration components, says the company.
